DRC Safe(r) and Quiet(r) Spaces
Help us raise money to make our DRC Safe(r) and Quiet(r) Spaces more robust for our students!
Our mission at the Portland State University Disability Resource Center is to make university life accessible to students with disabilities. We identify, evaluate, and reduce or eliminate barriers to student access and equity. We foster community and create opportunities to promote disability culture.
We focus on building partnerships and infrastructure that incorporate the principles of universal design, social sustainability, and disability justice.
As part of furthering this mission we have been hard at work this summer creating two new spaces for our students: the DRC Safe(r) Space and the DRC Quiet(r) Space. The DRC Safe(r) Space aims to provide a central, accessible space where students can meet other students with disabilities and hang out! The space will include a library full of disability studies and disability justice texts, videos, and other media created by disabled individuals! Our DRC Quiet(r) Space will provide a place for students to study or relax.
How you can help!
By donating to our project, you will support PSU students with disabilities building community and fostering pride. Here are some ways your money can make a difference:
• $5 can make two disability pride items for our students such as buttons or magnets.
• $10 can purchase 2 fidget/sensory items for our Quiet(r) Space.
• $50 can purchase three books to add to our library.
• $100 can help us with funding laptops for student use in the space.
• $250 can help us with event programming such as hosting a speaker.
You can also help by spreading the word about the campaign on social media. This will help us reach a larger audience in order to achieve our goal!
