About

The Politics and Global Affairs Department is the training ground for the next generation of public servants, diplomats, community advocates, and policymakers. We house programs in Political Science, International & Global Studies, and Law & Legal Studies, providing students with the analytical tools to understand and engage with the complex systems that govern our world. Our students and alumni actively practice civic engagement through internships, volunteer work, community service, and public service work both locally and globally. Civic education has never been more important but is currently under fire. Your gifts can help transform students’ lives and support them in making local and global impacts.

Why Your Support Matters

In this difficult funding climate, we invite you to signal your support for civic engagement and help us deliver an excellent educational experience to our students. Funds will contribute to all the “extras” that turn a standard degree into a transformative career, as well as helping us serve the Portland community through applied academic research and relevant learning opportunities:

  • Hands-on Research: Funding for faculty, graduate and undergraduate students to conduct research and present findings at conferences (like the International Studies Association or APSA).
  • Global Perspectives and Community Engagement: Bringing world-class experts and policy practitioners to campus for guest lectures and student workshops.
  • Networking and Career Readiness: Hosting networking events that bridge the gap between the classroom and professional careers in government, NGOs, and the private sector.
  • Student Support: Providing emergency funding to ensure that financial hurdles won’t stop a student from completing their degree.

By donating to Politics and Global Affairs you are investing in the informed, ethical leadership our global society needs. Any amount helps!

  • $5-$25 can signal your support for civic education and engagement at PSU
  • $50 can support light refreshments at a student open house or academic lecture
  • $100 can support a student award for academic excellence or community service
  • $250 can support a career networking event with students
  • $500 can support an educational panel or workshop open to the public
  • $1,000 can support student success initiatives such as emergency funds, help offset the cost of conference travel for students, or provide research support to students

If you cannot give at this time, please consider sharing this campaign or our social media posts with your own network to help us spread the word!
